Halloween is here and we are excited because it is the spookiest holiday of the year and an opportunity for some fun Halloween activities!

Besides dressing up in Halloween costumes, another good thing about Halloween is being able to have a fun day of Halloween activities with your kids. So, whether you have a fourth-grader obsessed with STEM experiments or a kindergartener who loves squishing slime, Halloween is a time to get into a spooky spirit and work together with the kids to have fun.

Perhaps you are having trouble deciding the best fun activities to have with your kids this Halloween? No worries. We got you!

Here is a list of 10 fun Halloween activities you can have at home to make the day an enjoyable one. Get ready for some spooky scary fun.

1. Create A Candy Wreath

You’ll need the whole family for this sweet craft; kids to curate the candy selection (they are the experts, right?) and a grown-up to handle the glue gun. Cover a wreath foam with your choice of treats, then finish it off with a colourful ribbon. This is one Halloween activity your children will love breaking apart days after Halloween.

2. Pick Fresh Apples

It may not be 100% a Halloween activity, but apple picking is a decided fall activity. The best place to start is your local apple picking farm, don’t forget to call them to check for opening times before you visit. PS: You can use your haul for a bobbing apple competition later and we are going to tell you all about that in a bit.

3. Make A Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Whether you play this game outside or indoors, a Halloween scavenger hunt with funny clues is always a hit. There are free printable clue-based scavenger games to print online. You can reward the winner with a small prize like a treat bag filled with yummy Halloween goodies or another fun surprise like a Halloween novelty toy. Just so you know, a scavenger hunt is a great idea for a Halloween party

How to Set-Up the Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Print off the clue cards (there are a lot of free cards online).

a. Hide the 2nd clue first, starting somewhere where the kids go to get snacks.

b. Hide the next clue somewhere under the dinner table.

c. Continue to hide all the clue cards based on the previous clue hints until you have only one clue left.

d. For the last prize, hide something near the front door or outside the front door.

4. Make Halloween-themed cakes

Kids love to make pandemonium in the kitchen as they take part in this treat making process. You can watch your kids let all their creative juices loose when it comes to the treats you will serve our guests on October 31st. Let them assist in making simple vanilla cakes which they can then decorate into a Halloween treat with sugar spiders, bats and so on! You can find Halloween themed cake pictures online for inspiration.

5. Bob for Apples

Because apples are less dense than water, they will float; so, drop a lot of apples in a big basin of water and ask the kids to try catching one with their teeth. Using their hands to get the apples is not allowed in this game so ask the kids to cross their hands behind their backs to prevent cheating.

Bobbing for apples has been a long time Halloween tradition and one all kids love. You can use a long and deep basin to accommodate multiple players especially if your family is a large one.

6. Visit A Pumpkin Patch

You can visit your local pumpkin farm and pick up the perfect gourds to transform with the best pumpkin carving ideas. A trip to the pumpkin patch will get you into the fall and Halloween spirit and make you want to do this every year. Pumpkin patches are fun for the whole family and a great time for you and the kids to bond. Teach them how to find the right pumpkin and let them lead the way through the corn maze.

TIP: Depending on your climate, a carved pumpkin might last only a day or two before beginning to soften and sag, so be sure to time your carving party as close to Halloween as possible.

7. Create a Scary Haunted House

Halloween is right around the corner, which means that it’s time to start planning costumes, buying candy, and filling your house with spooky decorations. This year have fun with your kids by allowing them to help you with decorating and completely turning your home into a haunted house! It’s easier than you think, and most decorations have a DIY option that won’t break the bank. Turn outdoor Halloween decorating into a family affair by involving the kids! Hang a wreath, string up lights, and assemble a display of pumpkins for an arresting, haunted entrance.

8. Hand make your kids’ Halloween Costumes

Sure, store-bought costumes are great, but making DIY Halloween costumes with your kids is a Halloween activity that lets your kids’ creative ideas come to life and you will all have fun while making it too. A DIY costume also holds more memories for you and your kids because it is an opportunity to bond and have fun together

9. Throw A Halloween Party

Help your kiddos have a frighteningly good time by throwing them and their pals a themed Halloween party. Invite friends and family over and entertain them with fun Halloween party ideas to ensure a spooktacular time. Don’t forget to create a Firacard to share pictures and videos of your fun Halloween party with everyone who attended!

10. Paint Your Pumpkins

Try something new with your jack-o’-lanterns this year. Carving ideas for pumpkins are cool but painting pumpkins for Halloween opens a ton of creative possibilities.

We hope you have a lot of fun with these activities this spooky weekend!
